I just packed my luggage. Tomorrow I’m flying to the United States for the first time. Not that I never wanted to go there, l just didn’t have any good reason or an “can’t miss” opportunity.
This time things are different. As I stated in my last post, it’s been 5 months since I started working at Guifx, and for the first time all the team will get together under the same roof. We are a small team, but a team made of tremendous talented people. I’m very excited about the knowledge exchange and all the fun moments I have ahead.
I’ll try to relate all details of this trip on my Twitter stream.
It’s been a while since I last post anything to this blog. The reason is that I had some many troubles work to do that I never found a way to include blogging into my daily activities. I think I have a good way to change this situation now.
It’s been a while since I joined Guifx as a full-time job. This is giving me more time to learn new things and to dedicate again to others that I abandoned, like this website (yes, this means a re-design).
Guifx is a company made out of great people with great visions of the GUI world. It’s an amazing place to work at. Be sure to check our website and expect some great stuff from us in the near future.
The past two weeks have been true nightmare. The reason is that my previous web hosting company ceased operations without warn their costumers, which resulted into a forced migration to a new web server. The problem: No backup!
The only hope for salvation was a manual backup made back in June 2007. Since Textpattern stores all the XHTML/CSS information on the database, I only had to recover the previous posts. With a little help from Google and it’s marvelous cache, I could recover everything.
The major drawback is that most the comments were lost. But the site is finally back, that’s what matters.
Panic just released Candybar 3. Some of the features were expected but the integration with Pixadex stunned me.
Candybar 3 seems awesome and I think the wait was fair enough. Now I almost have no excuses to not upgrade to Leopard.
Yesterday the guys at TUAW posted an article about my iMac icons, which drove over 5.000 people to this website. The icons were downloaded more than 1.000 times in less than an hour!
Today, right before the midnight the site reached it’s bandwidth limit. I only noticed that at 3:00 AM and had to wait till the morning to have my good friend Rafael increase the limit. Everything is back to normal now.
Awesome!
I just released a new set of icons featuring the iMac designs. I call it iMac generations Volume 2 because this is the second time I design iMac icons. The first, you may guess, was right before the iMac G5 release, and it still can be found here.
A big news is that this set is Leopard-ready and has high detailed 512×512 images sizes. If you want to take a look at such details, click on the image in this post.
Enjoy the new iMac (and the old ones too).
I just noticed that all download links were broken. I already fixed them and would like to apologize with those who tried to download my files.
On the other hand, I’m still making some tune up here and there. My time is short these days, so rather I (wisely) spend it finishing some of the cool stuff I have lined up for this site.
For now, I’ll just say that i’ts about icons :). And It’s a complete system set for the Mac OS X. Oh, yes, and i’ts about the iPhone, the new iMac and Leopard, too.
I have just released a new set of icons: Be the DJ! I had these icons lying around here for a while. Some of them were made for a client, but he rejected 3 (the turntable, the speaker and the microphone).
So I decided to release it as a free goodie, but there were just 3 icons and I wanted to increase this number a little. Then I thought: I have the turntable and the speakers, I just need some cool old vinyl discs.
I had a good time designing the vinyl disc covers, I have included one from KISS and one from Metallica. Send me your favorite albums from the pre-CD age and I’ll release another set with it.
Hi! My name is Fernando Albuquerque and this is the first post on the Nando Studio Blog. I’d like to welcome everyone who come around here and wish a good time browsing our website.
As this is the very first site update, I’ll also post some icons and desktop pictures in the Goodies section.
That’s it. Expect some cool stuf coming from this site in the near future.
